Summer is in full swing around here and with it comes a time of rest and transition for our local students in Cherokee County and elsewhere. While everyone’s summer looks a little different, this in-between season is full of much excitement and anticipation about the future and where the path will lead for students of all ages.
However, for one group of students in particular it’s even more of a milestone: the seniors who have just completed their final year of high school or college and are now celebrating as graduates!
I will always be surprised by how quickly those senior pictures in the fall turn into graduation ceremonies and cap and gown portraits in the spring. Thinking of my own Woodstock High School graduation, I still can’t believe so much life has happened in the years since my senior year in Woodstock, Georgia. College, marriage, babies; it all seems like a blur with each year passing too quickly to keep up!
Even though my babies are little, I know it feels like yesterday to these proud mamas and daddies that their graduating seniors were having their newborn photos taken; I’m sure it just doesn’t seem possible to be looking at their senior portraits. As beautiful as those graduation caps and gowns may be, the memories of those first newborn caps and swaddles they replaced are so bittersweet.
Try as we might to slow it down, time continues to speed by, and after a successful senior year, the Class of 2018 is ready to refresh before new adventures begin in the fall. So whatever fills those hot summer days, let’s celebrate the Class of 2018 graduates and all of their accomplishments!
Newborn and birth photography images may fill my portfolio, but I’ll always make room for a few senior portrait sessions each year. There’s nothing like capturing the youthful spirit of a senior who has the world at her feet!
